Expanding Your Commission
While I’m On Location
Every commission begins with a clearly defined subject and a dedicated photography session designed around that subject. That original commission—and creating the strongest possible work from it—will always come first.
But sometimes, once we're working together, another opportunity presents itself.
You may decide you'd like a portrait with your horse. Perhaps there is another horse you'd like me to photograph. A spouse or family member may want a portrait. There may be a beloved dog or companion animal nearby. Or we may simply recognize another photograph worth making.
I welcome those opportunities.
When time, location, light, and production requirements allow, I'm happy to expand the commission while I'm already on location.
Additional Commission
$1,500 Creative Fee per additional piece
I keep the pricing intentionally simple.
An additional piece may be a portrait of an individual, a couple or family, another horse or companion animal, a portrait with your horse, or another distinct photographic idea we decide to create while I'm on location.
The fee is the same regardless of whether the portrait includes one person or several.
No tiers. No packages. No need to calculate the number of people or subjects within the portrait.
If we agree that it's another piece worth creating, the additional Creative Fee is $1,500.
What Constitutes an Additional Piece?
An additional piece is a distinct commissioned portrait or photographic setup beyond the scope of the original commission.
It does not mean every photograph I make.
Variations in expression, composition, pose, or framing within an established portrait are simply part of creating the work. There is no additional fee each time we explore another possibility within the same commissioned piece.
If you ask me to create a portrait of your family together, for example, that is one additional piece.
If we then decide to create a separate portrait of one family member, another horse, or your dog, each would represent another piece.
We'll always establish that distinction together before additional fees apply.
The Original Commission Comes First
Expanding the commission should never compromise the work you originally asked me to create.
We'll complete the primary commission—or reach a point where I'm confident we have accomplished what we set out to make—before allowing additional photography to compete for our time or attention.
There may also be occasions when the light, schedule, location, or circumstances simply don't support another piece. If I don't believe we can create the work properly, I'll recommend that we don't add it.
The objective isn't to make as many photographs as possible.
It's to make photographs worth making.
Time, Travel & Expenses
The $1,500 Creative Fee remains the same for each additional piece.
In most cases, additional photography can be accommodated within the existing production and will not materially affect expenses.
If expanding the commission requires additional production time, specialized equipment or crew, a change of location, an additional night of lodging, changes to scheduled transportation, or other reasonable expenses, those costs remain the responsibility of the client.
Any additional expenses will be discussed and approved before we proceed.
There are no unexpected charges afterward.
Finished Artwork
The Additional Commission Creative Fee covers the photography, creative direction, and professional editing and preparation of the work.
Finished artwork is purchased separately.
Prints are produced using museum-quality archival materials and may be professionally framed to complement both the photograph and the environment in which it will live.
Every finished print is individually signed in verso and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity documenting the work and its provenance.
Artwork, framing, shipping, and installation when required are quoted separately.

If something—or someone—meaningful presents an opportunity while I'm there, please ask.
If we have the time and conditions to create it properly, I'm happy to do so.
We'll agree on what we're creating before we begin. The Creative Fee is $1,500 for each additional piece, plus any expenses created by extending the production.
And most importantly:
No negotiation. No complicated pricing. No surprises. Just another opportunity to create something deeply meaningful.
